Resource Rebound

Legendary resource investors reveal how to play
an upturn in precious metals and resource stocks

“Many of my favorite stocks are trading at a 90%
discount from their highs …”
– Rick Rule, World-famous Resource Investor

My name is Rick Rule and I’m the Chairmain of Sprott US Holdings Inc.

I’m a credit analyst by trade.

But I’ve had a decades-long successful career investing in resources by following one simple investing rule: “when everyone’s running scared: BUY.”

Or in the words of Baron Nathan Rothschild “Buy when there’s blood in the streets.”

In the case of precious metals and resources, the “blood” has been running for almost three years now.

It’s 1976 all over again.

I had just struck out on my own as a natural resource investor, after leaving a major investment firm.

Most people back then thought I could not have picked a worse time.

From 1970 to 1975, the price of gold had exploded from $35 to $200.

Then, in 1976, it came crashing down, dropping 50%.

Almost everyone thought gold was done. Most investors dropped out and sold off at the very bottom of the market.

The sell-off was so severe I saw that gold was becoming the bargain of the decade.

Sure enough, I was right.

Gold rose 850% from 1976 to 1980.

The same thing happened at the turn of the millennium.

Gold – and natural resources with it – were caught in a rout.

It was the same story. Everyone sold out. Pundits pronounced precious metals and resources dead.

Once again, blood flowed in the streets.

And once again, the rebound was spectacular.

Gold went from $350 to $1,000 in five years, and later continued on to record

highs.  Natural resources – as they had done before – followed along.

And I saw surprising gains in some stocks during that period.

All because I followed my one simple investment rule. When everyone else was running scared, I decided to buy.

This works because natural resources and precious metals are highly cyclical.

Right now we’re at a low point in that cycle, relative to 3 years ago. I believe we are on the verge of a massive rebound, similar to what I witnessed – and profited from – in the 1970s and 2000s.

In fact, right now many of my favorite stock are trading at a 90% discount from their 2011 prices.

That’s why I’ve organized a special event to show you how to take full advantage of our current market.

It’s the Sprott Vancouver Natural Resource Symposium 2014, and it will be held at the Fairmont Vancouver from July 22nd to 25th.

You’ll hear from a wide panel of investors, experts, and millionaires (even billionaires!)... including Robert Friedland, Doug Casey, Bill Bonner, Karim Rahemtulla, Matt Badiali, and many others.

Each speaker will be sharing his best ideas about how you can profit from what may be the greatest buying opportunity of this decade.

An Inside Look at What You Can Expect

You’ll be side by side with some of the world’s finest thinkers in natural resources, economics, and investing. This is your chance to discover new unique investment ideas.

Here are a few ideas you will hear:

  • Robert Friedland, Executive Chairman of Ivanhoe Mines, will show you how urbanization is already impacting the global population.

Record high levels of air pollution in some of the world’s mega-cities and governments’ inability to rise to the challenge, are creating significant investment opportunities in certain mining companies in the era of “green metals.”

He’ll also tell you about the biggest opportunities he sees in the copper and platinum-group metals today.

  • Doug Casey, Chairman of the Casey Group stands aligned with Rick Rule: success comes to those who invest when “blood is in the streets,” he says.

Most investors lose money in the resource sector but a few make millions and more, over and over again. Come to Vancouver to hear Doug tell you more on that.

  • Casey Research’s Chief Energy Investment Strategist Marin Katusa says uranium is one of the greatest contrarian energy plays today. The current low prices of uranium are setting the stage for an explosive recovery. He’ll tell you which investments will benefit most from it.

Marin also believes that the one step you need to take to internationalize your finances is storing some gold in another country. He will provide practical solutions for international gold storage, which pitfalls to avoid when storing overseas, and how to dollar cost average every month while storing overseas.

  • Agora Financial’s oil and energy expert Byron King has identified new resource plays in power generation, electrical storage, electronics, magnets, optics and more thanks to new technological breakthroughs.
  • Adrian Day Asset Management’s Chairman and CEO Adrian Day says the resource market is oversold and the next leg up will be even more powerful than the last. That’s because of the shortage of new mines in many natural resources in the years ahead. He’s identified how to participate in the coming boom for more conservative investors.
  • The Oxford Club’s Chief Income Strategist and dividend expert Marc Lichtenfeld will divulge which resource stocks have the greatest potential for high yields right now.
  • Global Contrarian Editor Kim Iskyan says that when sentiment is terrible, valuations often hit rock bottom. You’ll hear which catalysts could take sentiment from terrible to not-so-terrible plus which markets he believes are poised to explode.
  • Karim Rahemtulla, senior energy and resources editor at the Wall Street Daily sees a huge opportunity within our reach: natural gas. The critical mass developing in demand could send prices much higher, much sooner than most expect.

I’ve already mentioned some of our big-name speakers:

Robert Friedland
Founder and Executive Chairman, Ivanhoe Mines Ltd.

An international financier who has been associated with resource and technology ventures for more than 25 years. He also is Chairman and President of Ivanhoe Capital, a private, Singapore-based company that specializes in venture capital and project financing. He is a founder of Turquoise Hill Resources (formerly Ivanhoe Mines), a Canadian company with extensive development and exploration interests in the Asia Pacific region.

Robert was named the “2006 Mining Person of the Year” by Canada’s Northern Miner, a leading industry publication, for his coup in gaining global mining leader Rio Tinto as a partner for Ivanhoe Mines in Mongolia. The publication described Robert as “a dynamic force for a quarter-century in the minerals industry through a host of private and public-company vehicles.”

Doug Casey
Chairman, Casey Research

Doug is a highly respected author, publisher and professional investor who literally wrote the book on profiting from periods of economic turmoil. Crisis Investing spent multiple weeks as #1 on the New York Times bestseller list and became the best-selling financial book of 1980 with 438,640 copies sold. Soon after, Doug broke the record again with his next book, Strategic Investing, receiving the largest advance ever paid for a financial book at the time.

For over 28 years, Doug has written newsletters and alert services for investors and has served as a trustee on the Board of Governors of Washington College and Northwood University. He has been a director and advisor to nine different financial corporations.

He is widely respected as an authority on “rational speculation,” especially in the natural resource sector.

And you’ll also hear from many other internationally-renowned speakers, including:

Frank Holmes
CEO and CIO, U.S. Global Investors Inc.

CEO and Chief Investment Officer of U.S. Global Investors, Inc., which manages mutual funds and hedge funds focused on gold, natural resources and emerging markets. Frank purchased a controlling interest in U.S. Global Investors in 1989 and became the firm’s chief investment officer in 1999.

The company’s funds have earned many awards and honors, including more than two dozen Lipper Fund Awards. In 2006, he was selected mining fund manager of the year by the Mining Journal. He is also the co-author of The Goldwatcher: Demystifying Gold Investing.

Bill Bonner*
President and Founder, Agora Inc.

Bill founded Agora Inc. over 30 years ago. What began as a small publishing firm in D.C. in 1979 is now a “mini-multinational” organization with publishing offices in eight countries on six continents.

Bill co-authored two New York Times best-selling books, Financial Reckoning Day and Empire of Debt. Warning of the dangerous economic trends in motion over the last generation, both books have been critically acclaimed and internationally distributed. He also co-authored Mobs, Messiahs, and Markets, a third New York Times best-selling book.

Bill was a driving force behind the Daily Reckoning, an internationally-read daily publication where he contributed daily for over 10 years. Today, he writes the Diary of a Rogue Economist.

*Although Bill will be unable to join us in Vancouver, he has prepared a special video presentation for our Sprott Vancouver Natural Resource Symposium 2014 focusing on the current state of the economy, gold and more.

And of course, the man who is behind the whole show:

He has gained unmatched knowledge and experience in a long and focused career and he has a worldwide network of contacts in the worlds of natural resource and finance. Jeff is motivated by the drive to make money for himself and his readers. That means researching companies, analyzing the big trends in metals, and looking for safe and profitable ways to capitalize on trends in the gold and silver markets. He puts his money where his mouth is and will reveal what he's looking at next this July in Vancouver.

Eric Coffin

Louis James
Chief Metal and Mining Investment Strategist, Casey Research

Louis James' background in physics, economics, and technical writing prepared him well for his role as senior editor of the International Speculator and Casey Investment Alert.

Louis is constantly looking for the next double-your-money winner. That means meeting with mining company executives, pounding on rocks in places like the Democratic Republic of the Congo, examining drill core in Argentina, or even sitting down alongside local miners in China for a bite to eat.

He studies dozens of mining companies every month, conducts due diligence on his favorite stocks, and compares notes with Doug Casey to figure out which are most likely to provide quick and impressive returns to his subscribers.

Marin Katusa
Chief Energy Investment Strategist, Casey Research

Marin Katusa is the senior editor of Casey Energy Dividends, Casey Energy Confidential, and Casey Energy Report. He left a successful teaching career to pursue investing in junior resource companies.
